So, to start off the 2009-2010 PDUB program, each PDUB youth performed a joke that exemplified Filipino and Latino humor. Puns, mistranslations and mispronunciations figured prominently, with each punchline accompanied by the requisite drumroll.

It’s “American Diner Meets Vietnamese Comfort Food.” Mr. Gold is a fan of the spicy fries, the biscuit-topped curried chicken potpie and the clove-spiked beef stew. Vegetarians and vegans need not worry though; there are delicious veggie-friendly options as well (a yummy tofu stew in Vietnamese five-spice and an addictive almond jelly with seasonal citrus syrup).

The Fighting Cocks are average human beings, living averages lives, who have average talent, who play average tunes. There is nothing really special about them at all. Yes, they blend a Filipino musical aesthetic with poignant lyrics, steady rhythms, and masterful melodies, but who doesn’t?
Singer/songwriter Belle hits the stage with her acoustic guitar, having graced the stage with top Filipino stars like Dolphy, Randy Santiago, Glen Jacinto and the upcoming Juan Dela Cruz Band.

Each segment will spotlight a different aspect of PDUB Productions Mobile Hi Fi Tours and Pilipino Workers’ Center, including some serious jeepney coverage.
